Meet Sebastien: Saving $6,500 on His Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
One of the principles we teach at Exotic Car Hacks is the ability to understand how to buy and sell these cars, enjoy them, but also make a profit.
Sebastien has taken the first step in this process by taking in a beautiful Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG that he soon will turn into a check to get him into something bigger and better.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Sebastien: I am 31 years old, married since 2004 and father of 2 beautiful girls: Chloe 5, Leah 2. I started working for myself and on myself to improve and provide for my family and give them the best that’s out there.
I have been born and raised in a poor financial background and had to learn a lot by trial and error. I love to read motivational book and self-improvement. I’m a bit perfectionist, and love quality stuff.
I don’t settle for mediocrity. I don’t surround myself with a lot of people, but I surround myself with the good ones and the ones that matters to me.
What is your profession?
Sebastien: I’m a the owner of a well-known window cleaning business in my area who specialises in commercial work.
Entrepreneur since 2007, I’ve started 2 other companies, one in lettering and car paint protection and maintenance, the other, in sign language.
I’ve always been interested in learning, getting to understand, and master the mechanic behind everything I start.
What was your first car and why?
Sebastien: I hate Hondas with a passion. Yet, my first car was an ’88 Honda Civic DX 2 door in manual transmission with the slowest engine ever produced.
Although I don’t like the brand at all, that car gave me great memories, and it allowed me to be free and go wherever I wanted.
That’s why I love cars: you’re free to drive it, shine it, look at it, repair it, think about it, dream about it.
To me, cars are an experience: good or bad don’t matter much, as long as I have a story to tell that goes with the car.
First exotic car using Exotic Car Hacks methods and why?
Sebastien: 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. The brand is well-known for producing great quality cars and quite powerful too for their platform.
I bought this car to drive and sell for a profit. It has P30 Package and Navigation on 18″ AMG wheels. Never seen winter and clean title. It has 55,900 miles on the counter. Grey exterior on white interior. Canadian car.
All maintenance performed at the dealer, but owned by a private seller. The asking price was $26,500 and I got it for $20,000.
The owner was divorcing and wanted the money. Only thing the car needed was new tires, but otherwise clean PPI. Car runs as smooth as silk.
Awesome car and noise, makes me smile everytime I take the wheel.
How has Exotic Car Hacks helped you when it comes to car research and buying?
Sebastien: The program opens your mind. We live in a society that most people think certain brands aren’t affordable and too expensive, but when you study the case well, you realise that it is not the case, often quite the opposite.
In 13 years of marriage, we’ve had more than 15 cars, some better than others, but I’ve always been able to drive them and sell them quite easy.
When I did the Exotic Car Hacks program, it made me realize that since I enjoy cars, I could drive them a bit and make a bit of cash while I’m at it. It allows me to drive cars that I would personally want to own, and calms my thirst of changing all the time.
Best advice for someone looking to buy their first exotic?
Sebastien: PPI — I couldn’t insist on this enough. Also, buy with your brain, not your heart.
If the deal is too good to be true, there is something hidden there, don’t fall in the trap. Even if it is the car of your dream, if the car is no good, don’t waste your hard-earned money on it.
WAIT!! Great cars comes around all the time. Patience.
How is your life different now with exotic car ownership?
Sebastien: I personally don’t believe in the banking system at all. Savings accounts with 0.25% interest returns, are you kidding me?
Most cars I drove and sold gave me a profit/return of at least 20% so far. Driving great cars while investing for your future. Don’t see anything wrong in that.
What’s next for you?
Sebastien: Sell that C63 AMG, which I totally love by the way. My heart wants to keep it, but that deal has to go. Next project, I’m looking to buy a Porsche 911 Turbo.
