What Is Your Car Really Worth?

Most private sellers make a fatal mistake when listing their car.

They use how much they paid as they #1 factor to determine how much they're selling it for.

WRONG.  

What you paid is completely irrelevant to what it's worth today, even if you bought it yesterday.

The second most common mistake is one that seems a lot smarter... but it's actually worse. 

They look at the market...

And they see the highest price car...

And the lowest priced car...

And they list theirs either right in the middle - or worse - at the lower end of that spectrum, thinking it will attract the right buyer by being CHEAPER than cars that are worse.

As someone who has sold hundreds of cars for top dollar vs market comps, I can tell you that, as a car hacker, the "low price" approach is leaving at least 12.5% of your cars final selling price on the table. 

There's an art and a science to pricing your car for sale to extract the most value from the market.

The key points are:

1. What you paid has no relevance to what it's worth

2. If someone else got a great deal on a car but it's now off the market, that doesn't change the value of your car.

And

3. Feelings don't matter. The market is about money, not emotion. 

Bottom line - not being able to sell your car for top dollar can ruin your hack.
